Vintage Mirrors & Framed Art
Vintage mirrors, original paintings, prints and sculpture. A single good piece of art or an old gilt mirror can anchor a whole wall; look at the frames as much as at the images.

Choosing vintage mirrors
An old gilt mirror, with its gilding mellowed by age, can anchor a whole wall. Federal-style mirrors are rectangular, often with rosettes in the corners and an eagle or urn on top; Georgian examples are carved and gilded; Victorian mirrors are more ornate, with arched tops and heavy leaf and floral carving.
The glass of an old mirror may show soft spotting where the silvering has aged. Many buyers love this, and the listing photographs show it plainly so there are no surprises.
Framed art: original paintings, prints and sculpture
Look at the frame as much as at the picture. A good frame is part of the value of a painting, and a plain print in an excellent frame can still read as a serious piece on a wall.
Each listing gives the overall size and a plain note on condition. For a gallery wall, mix sizes and combine art with a mirror. If you are working with clients, the designer sourcing page explains how our trade list works.
